Optical Illusion | The Figure Fixing Dress

Ever since she appeared wearing only 'that necklace' in Titanic all those years ago, Kate Winslet has been the poster girl for womanly curves. Now, getting slightly older, some of us are umm-ing and aah-ing over how she can get away with the body conscious pieces she has been wearing for her latest red carpet outings.

First there was this Stella McCartney dress which we blogged about here

Then there was this nude Stella McCartney dress (see the pattern yet?)

And tonight she sported this Stella McCartney dress in racy red

Another pattern emerges here, other than the fact that Stella McCartney's dresses do wonders for the figure. Firstly, black panels on the sides of a figure hugging dress, accentuate the waist, but also slim the waist and hips as the black gives the impression of a svelte silhouette.

The second lesson to learn here is that the racer back speedo-esque high neckline amplifies the bust, and also broadens the shoulders which is great for balancing out your bottom half if you are gifted with a pear shape.

As most of us aren't likely to spend £2,500 on Kate's dress, we suggest this stone TFNC style as a figure fixing alternative.
